Levens village is very much a working village, Lane House is situated in one of the oldest areas bordering Cinderbarrow.
Many artists, sculptures and builders work in the village alongside a farming community, agricultural contractors and car dealerships.
There is an excellent village pub within easy walking distance serving gourmet food and real ales, village shop, C of E Church, Methodist chapel together with a Sports Field, Tennis Courts and Bowling club.
Lane House is situated halfway between Levens Hall, ancestral home of the Bagot family, famous for its topiary garden and Sizergh Castle a National Trust property of immense historical interest.
Levens is also convenient for a short drive, bus journey or bike ride to Kendal, the gateway to the Lakes, Milnthorpe with it’s weekly market & Grange-over-Sands an Edwardian seaside resort .
Lancaster and Morecambe are also within 30 minutes by train or car.
For the more adventurous Kirkby Lonsdale offers Georgian architecture and quaint shops, also accessible within 30 minutes.
